Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy

This comprises of a main reception area, dispensary, three beauty salons, two hairdressing salons and a multifunction salon which services hairdressing and nail technology. All salons are commercial enterprises, and students work on clients. • In addition to the main areas, the school also has an IT pod in the library on the Afan Campus equipped with computers with access to both the intranet and Internet, a valuable tool in relation to research for projects and assignments.

Horticulture

The main site is based in Margam Park and serves as a teaching base and a commercial garden centre.

There are three large green houses, a demountable which acts as a class room for students especially those with physical disabilities. There are also four poly tunnels used to store and grow plants. The grounds allow for display gardens.

Inside

The horticulture section has entered and been successful in winning several prestigious prizes during the last year:

  • Large Gold Medal - Builth Wells

  • Second prize - Royal Horticultural Society Spring Show.

During the spring of 2005, the section worked closely with Bovis Homes in the preparation of show gardens for their new housing developments.

The Garden Centre is a commercial enterprise and open to members of the public from March to November. Customers can purchase plants and obtain valuable gardening information and tips from the staff and students.
