Currently, Health Social and Childcare courses are offered in five locations: the two main campuses at Neath and Afan, Cwmtawe, the Dove Centre at Banwen and the Learning Action Centre in Port Talbot.
The School offers full time courses on both main campuses with a wider range available at Neath. Part-time courses maybe accessed at all locations delivered by day and evening. The full-time courses in Health and Social Care offer progression from Level 1 to Level 4 whilst in Early Years courses, they are offered at Level 2 to Level 4. Although the majority of courses have a September start, there is an opportunity for a January and April intake for those wishing to study NVQ Early Years Care and Education.
Access to Health and Social Care courses are offered in four locations and attracts healthy numbers. Study maybe on a full-time or part-time basis, by day or evening. The progression route for the successful Access students is varied many entering the field of nursing or midwifery whilst some choosing to continue with their studies at a higher level.
Progression is facilitated by the more recent provision of Level 4 courses which are now on offer on the Afan campus. There are several different courses available all enabling students to continue with their studies at a higher level and benefiting from the easy access. The College works closely with Swansea University and also the University of Glamorgan.
Whilst students study their main programme area, there are opportunities to achieve additional qualifications which serve to support applications to future employment or study, these include : Emergency Aid, Manual Handling, Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene and Sign Language. GCSEs which complement the subject area are available including the new AS in Health and Social Care.
The School prides itself in attempting to meet the needs of the individuals in the community and continually seeks to increase the range of courses on offer. Recent introductions include the Teaching Assistants Certificate and the A Awards with an Early Years focus.
