The Performing Arts Department is renowned for its extensive extra curricular training and performance opportunities. Our students fit the activities around their timetable and most take place on a Wednesday afternoon. If you are still in School, there’s also the fantastic prospect of getting a taster of College life right now by attending some of the activities below.
The Neath Port Talbot College Choir meets at 1.15pm every Wednesday. The choir performs in a variety of concerts and sings from a wide-ranging repertoire that includes musical theatre, popular music and classical music. There are approximately 50 students in the choir and over the years many have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Choir of Wales. Anyone who enjoys singing and meeting new people is welcome.

Following the success of their pre-Christmas performance at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, the NPTC jazz ensemble is currently working on new material in readiness for their next performances in May at Swansea Jazz Club, the Bay View in Swansea, and a return visit to the Wales Millennium Centre. The ensemble is growing in number, and we now have three vocalists (Rachel Williams, Ruth Hughes and Matthew Rees) who each feature on several songs from the standard jazz repertoire, together with jazz interpretations of contemporary songs such as ‘Valerie’. We also have a growing horn section of saxophones and flute to complement the rhythm section, who collectively have been with us for a few years.
LIFT, this original, creative and highly dynamic dance company provides its members with the opportunity to train and develop their technique and performance skills within a professional working environment. Young dancers aged 14 - 18 from the local area and feeder schools are also given the opportunity to audition for the LIFT Associates Dance Company, which fosters and nurtures the ongoing development of young dance enthusiasts. Summer 2009 welcomes back original LIFT Dance Company members to perform in the end of year showcase, working alongside an independent professional dance artist to create a brand new work.
